Discount Surfboards Be Warned

August 7th, 2008

Don’t be taken for a fool. Discount surfboards are not created equal. If you see a "cheap surfboard", don’t necessarily believe that you’re getting a great deal. Let this be a lesson to you, I made this mistake once, and now I take it as my life’s purpose to spread the word and let everyone be forewarned! You see what happened was, I saw an ad for a "discount surfboard." So, with my love of the waves, I thought it must be a good deal, so I signed up for one. When I got it though, it looked like a fake surfboard, it was really small for a "Longboard" and it was really thin and looked old and really worn. It didn’t say "used" surfboard, so I wasn’t expecting that. I still figured I’d give it a shot, maybe it was a gem after all. Unfortunately, after two rides, the board cracked in half and I threw it out into the waves to be forever washed up. That was my last bout with used surfboards, and now I only buy from dealer’s who share my passion, like buyboardz.com.

Beware of Cheap Surfboards

July 11th, 2008

There are a lot of scams out there. People are always trying to take, take, take. Why can’t we learn to give, give, give? Everyone’s trying to one up you, and everything’s always trying to get something. This is my warning, watch out for cheap things. Usually if something sounds too good to be true, it is. Cheap Surfboards are the latest scam that got me. They were offering this great looking board for such a good deal, or so I thought. I was so pumped, I took it out right when I got it, and it seemed to be OK.

I bought the board, used it a few times, and it snapped right on half on top of a gnarly wave. I wanted to catch it so bad, and the board just snapped. I tried to get a refund or something and the company took no ownership to the problem. They had no problem taking my money, but they couldn’t take responsibility for anything that had happened. I don’t ride my surfboards super hard, I’m practically an amateur. Thankfully, I was able to get a good deal on a GREAT foam surfboard at buyboardz.com. I’ve had it for a while and it still performs the way I expect it to. I didn’t have to pay a fortune, and they were there to answer all of my questions throughout the process.

Shortboards Not Short On Fun

July 11th, 2008

Shortboards aren’t short on fun. I was recently on a mission to have some fun. I was so tired of the same old same old, and my mundane life. It was the same deal everyday, office, home, office, home. Maybe every once in a while I would go out to dinner. That was a big deal. Then I started thinking back on the good times I used to have. The beach, the boards, the surf. It all brought an undeniably huge smile to my face.

I picked up my old longboard and headed to the waves. It took me 8 hours to get to the coast, which was good timing. I put the board on the water and paddled out. It was glorious. The thing about it though, was I wanted more. I needed more action, I wanted to pull off some tricks and go wild. So I decided to trade in my longboard for a shortboard. The maneuverability was insane. I could cut the waves so easily, and I realized shortboards are underrated, or at least I had underrated them. I was back in my element, and I was loving it.

How could I go back to the office on the following Monday? The resolution was simple, I couldn’t. I packed up shop and headed West, I needed to be back, I needed to be home. I didn’t bring much with me, left the suit and tie hanging, grabbed my wetsuit and my surfboards, and off I went. Best decision of my life.

Never Pay Full Price for Longboards Again

July 10th, 2008

Are you amazed at how much money it costs to buy a longboard?  I always knew there must be a way to get discount longboards but I was always forced to buy them at my local surf shop.  I finally got fed up with the prices I was paying and starting asking around to other surfers how they were buying their boards.  Most of the surfers were doing the same thing as I was while some knew surfboard shapers to buy from directly.  One young surfer really helped me out when he told me that he found discount longboards online.  I had found my answer.  I immediately went home and searched for discount longboards online and found an awesome site called BuyBoardz.com.  They had just what I was looking for when it came to discount longboards.  Their sales staff was very helpful and they even gave me a free leach.  I can promise you one thing, I will never buy a longboard at my local surf shop again.  From now on, I’m only buying discount longboards online through BuyBoardz.com.  I absolutely love how much money this site has saved me.

Standup Paddleboards Are Great for Vacation

July 10th, 2008

Standup Paddleboards are the frosting on my cake. I love to surf, but sometimes need a little more of a lax experience, and want to enjoy the water more. Not only did I realize this when I was on vacation with my boyfriend, and we were surfing and the only time we got to talk was when we were crashing back onto the shore after a gnarly wave threw us both against the waves, and we wanted some more time to just hang out, but neither of us wanted to part with our boards. We didn’t want to be on the shore, and we didn’t want to be on top of the water in a boat. The solution suddenly became simple, we needed Standup Paddleboards.

It was the best of both worlds, we could surf, be on the water, and also be able to relax a little when we were out there on the waves. Standup Paddleboards gave me the wonder of being on the water, while also giving me a different way to enjoy the water. The paddles make it easier to glide and adds a little spice to the mundane of surfboarding everyday. Suddenly my boyfriend and I could be in our element, and also enjoy each other’s company. We spent the entire day out on the water, and our Standup Paddle surfboards made it all possible. When we got back from our vacation that year, it was the happiest we’ve ever been. We try to get out on our Standup Paddleboards (also known as SUP) at least once every couple weeks to reconnect. It’s great!

Suga Shack of Surfboards

July 10th, 2008

I have the perfect job. I own a little surf shack in Hawaii. It’s not too big, it’s not too small, it’s just right. I grew up in a major metropolitan city within the Continental U.S. and never felt satisfied. I worked long hours, and when I finally got out of work after a grueling day, it was time to go to bed. I didn’t have a release of energy, I was cooped up all day and all night.

So one night, I decided I needed to put myself first, and that my happiness was the most important thing. I could have all of the money in the world, but I’d have a hard time enjoying it, if I was working all the time, and not happy overall. So I went back to my roots. When I was younger, the sport of surfing always made me happy. I grew up on the East Coast, so there wasn’t as gnarly of waves as there is on the West Coast, or in the coves of Hawaii, but I could get by just by watching it on TV when I was unable to go on vacation to those spots. I bought a new surfboard, and realized that surfboards were my life. It didn’t matter if it was the new up and coming sport of Stand Up Paddleboards, a shortboard, or a longboard, I loved them all. Suddenly, I realized I knew what I wanted to do.

I wanted to share my passion for the sport, and pass along my love for the water to other people. I thought the best way to do that, would be to buy up my favorite surfboards and put them together in, the "Suga Shack," where I would offer my knowledge and expertise and teach people how to surf. People who were willing try, I knew would love it. It was all about the surfboard too, I started them on our beginner surfboards, and taught them the fundamentals, and within minutes, they were dying to get up on their own, and never wanted to come back to shore.

By teaching other people, and sharing with them such a beautiful sport of surfing, and by giving them the tools they needed, which is only a great surfboard, and some great waves, they were able to feel the freedom that is only feisable by riding the waves. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Foam Surfboards for Newbies

July 9th, 2008

Wanna get out there this summer, but you don’t want to get knocked around or unconcious by a wooden longboard or some other careless beginner who can’t control their surfboard? Well, Buyboardz can’t guarantee what the other newbies may do with their boards out in the water, but 9 times out of 10, you’ll be hit by your own board out there in the water as long as you keep your distance from other surfers. One thing you can do to make your learning experience much more enjoyable is a foam surfboard, or a "foamie".

Foam surfboards make learning a lot less…painful! Sometimes when you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s hard to control your board out there in the waves until you really get the hang of surfing. A softboard is the best way to learn how to surf, because they have superb flotation, making it easy to balance on, and they are made of foam, which is a lot less injurious when it comes in contact with your face or body for any reason.

Buyboardz has a great selection of foam surfboards for you to choose from, in a variety of sizes and colors. Remember, the longer the surfboard is, the easier it is to balance on, so don’t get a shortboard as your first board. Softboards are the best for beginners, and even more advanced surfers like them for their buoyancy and light weight, so get yours and get out in the water today!

A Fish Surfboard is for Speed Junkies

July 9th, 2008

I like to go fast. I mean, really fast. You know the kid that rides all the roller coasters and any ride at an amusement park that involves speed and moving fast? Yeah, that’s me. I like to drive fast, walk fast, and of course being the adrenaline junkie I am I like to surf fast too. The best board for speed is the fish surfboard by far, because on a small to medium wave day, this baby zips around those waves with a quickness! How is the fish surfboard faster than other boards? Simple, it’s much shorter and a little wider than regular surfboards or longboards, giving you what you need to zip around the top of a wave and gain momentum.

Ok, ok, now that I have your attention with the awesome speed you can get with a fish surfboard, you probably want to know where to get one. The best place to get a surfboard is not in the local surf shop like you might think, but online. The awesome surfers at Buyboardz.com can hook you up with a great longboard or fish surfboard at the price low enough that you’ll still have enough left over after your session to get your grub on at the closest taco shop.

Ding Proof Epoxy Surfboards

July 9th, 2008

The reason why I love my epoxy surfboard is because compared to the traditional fiberglass surfboard it is less likely to suffer from dings and dents.  This is important to me because I want my epoxy surfboard or any surfboard for that matter to last me a long time.  This means my epoxy surfboard has to stand up to me dragging it out, traveling and the open sea.

I can’t spend any amount of money only to have it be on something that will become dented and not last long. I’m not rich, so whenever I buy something I want it to be quality and to last a long time.  That is why I only buy epoxy surfboards because they don’t dent as much as the traditional wooden surfboard.  That means the world to me to know that I’ll be using my epoxy surfboard for many sessions to come.
